By this time, Hearst became convinced that all the things they were telling her were true and that the cops now wanted to kill her. Patty then was already brainwashed.

Terrariums: Glass Gardens

By definition, the word terrarium means "a place of earth." In actuality, a terrarium is a miniature indoor garden under glass. It contains a collection of plants that belong to the same plant community and need the same amount of water and sunlight. If you wish to cultivate a terrarium, it is important to group the same plants that need the same conditions for them to grow well together inside a small container.

Within a terrarium’s space, biochemical reactions occur such as photosynthesis, carbon dioxide formation, and the water cycle. A terrarium, therefore, has its own ecosystem and can support other living beings like a small animal or two.

A terrarium is also considered as a plant hospital. If you put an unhealthy plant inside a covered terrarium, you will see how it would revive and survive. This is because the covered glass container keeps the plants from drying out and protects them from sudden changes of temperature. Hence, terrariums can also make for an excellent way of transporting rare plants from faraway places.

Like many important scientific discoveries, the idea of the terrarium was the result of an accident.In 1829, Dr Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward (1791-1868), an English physician who had a passion for botany, placed a chrysalis inside a glass jar with some moist earth to watch it develop into a butterfly. After a few days, he noticed that a fern began to grow in the moist earth. Inspired by the discovery, he began to experiment extensively by cultivating many varieties of plants in glass containers. Later on his glass gardens became popular and were known as the Wardian case, the direct origin of the modern terrarium.

Take A Guess: Who was the First-Ever Miss Universe?

She was born in Muhos, Finland on August 20, 1934, captured the national Suomen Neito crown in May 24, 1952, and was sent to the United States to win the Miss Universe title on June 29, 1952 at the tender age of 17.

After winning Miss Universe, she toured around the world and met Filipino business tycoon, Virgilio Hilario. Following less than a year of whirlwind romance, she did not complete her term as Miss Universe and gave up her title in order to wed the man. The two tied the knot in Tokyo on May 4, 1953. Then she married American diplomat Albert Williams in 1978 after Hilario died of heart attack in 1975.

Today she is actively involved in charitable endeavors and participates in cancer research at the Burnham Institute.

Apollo 14 Astronaut says ETs are Real

Scientist Edgar Dean Mitchell (born September 17, 1930) is an American pilot and astronaut who reached the Moon in 1971 on Apollo 14. As the lunar module pilot of the latter, he spent nine hours and 17 minutes moonwalking making him the sixth man to walk on the Moon and a record holder for the longest moonwalk.

Just recently, Dr Mitchell has revealed that aliens do exist and that the pictures available to us depicting these "little people" pretty much resembles them accurately. Dr Mitchell described the aliens as "friendly with small bodies, a large head and big eyes."

Dr Mitchell also declared that the aliens are not hostile and that "The UFO phenomena is real."

Where Y'at, NIRVANA BABY?

In 1991, Spencer Elden graced the cover of Nirvana's album Nevermind. The album brought alternative rock to a wide mainstream audience and has sold more than 26 million copies worldwide. The image of then four-month old Elden became one of the 90's iconic representation of the generation's style of music.

Turandot is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini, set to a libretto in Italian by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni. Though Puccini's first interest in the subject was based on his reading of Friedrich Schiller's[1] adaptation of the play, his work is most nearly based on the earlier text Turandot by Carlo Gozzi. Setting: Peking in the distant past.

Synopsis:

A Mandarin announces that any prince seeking to marry the Princess Turandot must first answer three riddles. If he fails, he must die. The latest suitor, the Prince of Persia, is to be executed at the moon's rising. In the crowd is Timur, banished King of Tartary, who is reunited with his son, Calaf, who he thought died in a battle. The Prince of Persia passes on his way to the scaffold and the crowd calls upon the Princess to spare him. Turandot bids that the execution proceed. As the death cry is heard, Calaf, transfixed by the beauty of the Princess, strides towards the gong that announces a new suitor. Turandot's ministers, Ping, Pang and Pong, try to discourage Calaf. Timur and Liu (who is in love with Calaf) also beg him to reconsider, but he strikes the gong and calls Turandot's name.
Ping, Pang and Pong lament Turandot's bloody reign, hoping that love will conquer her icy heart and peace will return. They think longingly of their distant country homes, but the noise of the populace gathering to hear Turandot question the new challenger brings them back to reality.

The people, eager for another execution, have gathered in the square. The Emperor asks Calaf to reconsider, but he refuses. Turandot describes how her ancestor was dishonoured and killed by a conquering prince; the cruel trial her suitors have to undergo is revenge for that crime. Turandot asks Calaf three riddles, which he answers correctly. Turandot begs her father not to give her to the stranger, but to no avail. Calaf, hoping to win her love, offers Turandot a challenge: if she can learn his name by dawn, he will forfeit his life.

Calaf hears a proclamation: on pain of death, no one in Peking shall sleep until Turandot learns the stranger's name. Ping, Pang and Pong try unsuccessfully to bribe him to learn his secret. As the mob threatens him, soldiers drag in Liu and Timur. Calaf tries to convince the mob that neither knows his secret. Liu declares that she alone knows but will never tell. She is tortured, but remains silent. Impressed by such endurance, Turandot asks Liu's secret: "Love" replies Liu. Fearing that she will weaken under torture Liu seizes a dagger and kills herself. The crowd, fearful of her dead spirit, forms a funeral procession. Left alone with Turandot, Calaf first reproaches her for her coldness and cruelty, then kisses her. Feeling emotion for the first time, Turandot weeps. Now sure of his victory, Calaf reveals his identity. Before the assembled crowd, Turandot announces the stranger's name: it is Love.
