A new study disproves old fashion dogma that horizontal lines optically add weight which, in effect, makes one appear fatter. On the other hand, the long-held belief that 'black makes you look thinner' is indeed accurate. Read more...

Who Wore It Best?

Katie Holmes & Mary-Kate Olsen

It is not unusual to see stars wearing the same clothes --especially designer items-- on different occasions.

Why do think this double-dressing outings happen? According to fashionista.com "most celebrities get their clothes for free, either from stylists or from publicists. And if a new dress is gifted to one starlet, it's usually sent to them all... In real life, it may be considered uncool to wear the same dress as another girl, but in Hollywood, it's just another excuse to have your photo taken."

So, let’s take a look at some of the stars wearing the same outfit. Click here...

Beyonce: Whitewashed by L'Oreal?

There seems to be an ongoing controversy right now about Cosmetics giant L’Oreal allegedly 'whitewashing' Beyonce on her photo for their latest product campaign. Hair Care: Hair Loss and Gray Hair Prevention and Cure

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:

1 glass coconut milk
1 piece lemon grass
Shower Cap
Shampoo
Empty Bottle

PREPARATION:

Step 1

Take a sauce pan or wok. Over medium flame bring coconut milk to a boil.

Step 2 Add lemon grass and stir constantly.

Step 3

Once the aroma of the lemon grass comes out, remove pan from flame. Take out the lemon grass. Let the mixture cool, and then store in a sealable container or bottle.

TREATMENT:

Step 1

Scoop 1 tablespoon of the mixture,
massage it into the scalp and hair working your way down from the roots to ends. Add more if necessary.

Step 2 Put a plastic shower cap over your hair or wrap it with plastic wrap.

Step 3 Leave the treatment in the hair for an hour or longer.

Step 4 Shampoo out the treatment and condition your hair as usual.

I do this weekly or when my hair needs deep conditioning. Not only does it prevent hair loss and cure gray hair and other hair and scalp problems, it also leaves your hair shiny and rehydrated.

My Thoughts: Body Image and Sexual Confidence

Fashion and beauty industries dictate what the ideal bodies and faces should be- and media bombards us with those images; mostly overrating physical appearance and underrating character.

Sadly, media has the power to permeate our society and perpetuate these ideas of sexual desirability. Magazines laud the voluptuous features of one celebrity while jeering the anexoric frame of another; advertisements equate excess weight to sexual unattractiveness; and movies, TV and the internet present graphic depictions of the erotic nature of the human body.

Conforming to these seemingly unattainable expectations only undermines our self-worth and induces feelings of inadequacy in us. Professional counselors offer help by showing us how developing a positive image and self-acceptance can inoculate us against these effects. It's all about counting our blessings, and feeling good about ourselves and our God-given lives.

We should keep in mind that everybody is unique and 'beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder'.

Make up and Beauty Tips

THIN LIPS: To create a fuller look, outline the edge of your upper lip with a lip pencil lighter than your complexion; blend well. Then apply lipstick.

LIPSTICK BLEEDING: Use a waterproof make up product. Outline lips with a camouflage foundation. Apply with a lip brush outside the lip line, then pat with finger to fill in tiny lines around the mouth. Apply pressed powder then lipstick.

UNDEREYE CIRCLES: Massaging will increase circulation under eyes and lessen discoloration. Dab baby oil on your fingers then in a circular motion, rub your eyes lightly.

SHORT EYELASHES: Put a finger under the arch of your brow and gently pull up on skin, keeping your eye open. Slowly close curler on lashes. Remove finger, and gently squeeze and release several times.

EYELASHES FALLING OUT: Apply a dark eyeliner between lashes. Change your mascara every three months to prevent bacteria build-up.

Hair Care

Provided here are tips on how to take care of your hair, making it healthy and presentable.

SPLIT ENDS: Put three or four drops of almond oil into your hand. Heat it up by rubbing your palms together then run through hair before styling. Trim your hair about 1/2 to 1 inch every three months.

MOUSY HAIR COLOR: Use Henna for a boost in color. Natural henna is best for blondes; red and brown colors match other shades. For best results, leave on for two or three hours, with a cup of conditioning olive oil.

FLYAWAY HAIR: This occurs when hair is washed too often with too much shampoo. Two short lathering are better than a long one. Hairspray on your brush will calm flyaway strands. Always avoid excessive blow-drying. Use hair conditioners to protect your mane from a dry climate which causes it to become coarse and hard to manage.

LACK OF BODY: Don’t try to force hair to do what is unnatural for it. For fine, limp hair, get a great trim, like a chin-length, blunt bob and focus on color and shine.

Hey All,

Reader 'hair factor' has added this fantastic hair care tip:

'You can also use the herb sage to make a tea as a rinse for gray hair or for blonde highlights you can make a tea from adding safron to boiling water, let cool and use as a rinse.'
