In the 70's, in vitro fertilization, or IVF was hailed as a breakthrough in the fields of medicine and science. Through a planned caesarean section, Louise Joy Brown, the first test tube baby , was born on July 25, 1978 in
Louise's parents, Lesley and John Brown had decided to seek the help of gynecologist Patrick Steptoe and physiologist Robert Edwards after nine years of failed conceptions due to Lesley's blocked fallopian tubes. Four years later, the Brown's next child, Natalie, was also conceived through IVF. She was the 40th IVF baby in the world and in 1999 became the first "test-tube" baby to give birth.
Louise, 28, married 37 year old Wesley Mullinder in 2004. Like Natalie's daughter Casey, Louise's son, Cameron John Mullinder, born on 21 December 2006, was also conceived naturally and without IVF.
In 2003, in her first public appearance as an adult, at Bourn Hall, near
She likewise narrated incidents wherein schoolmates would ask her if she was born in the laboratory. "I thought it was something peculiar to me. I thought I was abnormal," she confided. At times, she would feel "completely alone". Nonetheless, she remains proud to have been the world's first successful "test-tube" baby but she admits media attention makes her uncomfortable. The public's fascination over her was as unrelenting, to which she quoted: "I don't feel any more special than anyone else. I just get on with my life. Just normal- I just plod along".
In her recent interview following the birth of her child, Louise expressed belief that "the science that created her has become a soulless conveyor belt ...". She thinks "it is wrong for parents to use science to choose the sex of their children unless it's for medical reasons...". Continuing, she remarked that she was teased at school because she was a "test tube" baby.
If she so desired, an opulent life would have been just within her grasp as offers from newspapers and television journals to sell her story were never scarce. But the eldest of the "test tube" babies, whose life has had been closely monitored by the medical scientists and the world, opted to lead a life of modesty and privacy.
Louise Joy Brown has had plodded along her own life level-headed and sans any signs of abnormalities, as opposed to all the initial criticisms and skepticisms surrounding the technology by which she was conceived.

Howard Robard Hughes, Jr. was a
Howard was an only child. During his childhood, his father was in constant business trips leaving him to the care of his mother who was obsessed with cleanliness and who had greatly influenced him in protecting himself from germs and diseases. Howard's mother would personally bathe him, rubbing lye on his ears to the ends of his toes. Reportedly, she would meticulously review the naked body of her young son checking his teeth, ears, genitals, elbows and knees. Psychologists would later label her behavior as "emotionally incestousa". At age 18 and upon the death of his father,Howard inherited an estate worth $871,000 and a patent to an oil-drilling tool, which was manufactured by his late father's Hughes Tool Company. During his entire life, Howard consistently exhibited an obsessive-compulsive behavior and it was speculated that by the late 1950's or earlier, he developed symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
In 1966, at the age of 60, Howard mysteriously withdrew from the public's eye.Such behavior further heightened the media's curiosity. Tabloids tagged him: an eccentric recluse. During this period of self-imposed hermitage, Howard had become a sick man resulting from his unsubstantial eating habit and excessive use of drugs.
Howard was 70 years old when he finally succumbed to kidney failure. At the time of his death, X-ray results disclosed grave malnutrition among other conditions. The first doctor to examine Howard concluded the cause of his demise as neglect.
Because he did not leave a will, Howard's estate, estimated at $2.3 billion, became a subject of a much-publicized extensive litigation.
Howard Hughes was the first american billionaire.

Just when I thought his story would not shock me again, I was shocked- again! - while doin' the research for this blog. I didn't realize the extent of damage he got himself into. He was a debonair turned into an unkempt, unshaven shadow of his former self.
Well, let me get into the moral of the story:
1st: it's ok to smell like a skunk once in while. Try not washing your face the entire day. Don't you pity that poor slimy stuff called facial oil not having anywhere to settle? Let it thrive on your skin for, like, one or two days (I do not believe I'm sayin' this! *laughs*).
2nd: and this one's serious- our childhood experiences mold us to be what we become in the future. They either restore orbreak us ( I sound like a granny ).
