World Youth Day Celebration Ends with a Mass

Throngs of pilgrims attended the open-air mass conducted by Pope Benedict XVI in Sydney on Sunday. In the final service, which marks the close of the World Youth Day celebration, the pontiff urged the flocks of young Catholics who were present to fight the globally spreading “spiritual desert.” A day before that, the Pope made a historic public apology to all the Australian victims of paedophile priests.
