My Thoughts: Love, Prayer and Forgiveness

Forgiveness gives us a sense of closure and inner peace. I was wrong before in thinking that forgiving is tantamount to approving someone's misdeeds or condoning his misconduct. Forgiveness does not mean that we have to remain subject of an abusive behavior. In fact, we do not necessarily have to spend time with the person we are forgiving. I think it's easier to forgive if we distance ourselves from the other person.

Forgiving may not come easy especially when the hurt is deep-seated or devastatingly severe. Praying for the possibility of forgiving and for God's love to touch the heart of the wrongdoer is always the best way to start. At one point or another, we, too, may inadvertently hurt someone and would need to ask for forgiveness.

We are but products of our life experiences. Unpleasant and unfair actions by others as well as past events can affect our current thoughts and feelings. But, we can take control of our lives and make a decision. We can choose to remain bitter or become better. When we genuinely forgive others for their wrongs towards us, we are actually setting ourselves free from the ugly and unproductive feelings that block the blessings God has in store for us.

We must take the first step on the pathway leading us outside our dark alley of griefs.

Live, love, pray, forgive, move on, and be happy.
