during Ramadan





Existing Islamic rules allow people not to fast during Ramadan for reasons of chronic health conditions like in the case of asthma. However, there are still a lot of asthmatic Muslims who opt to observe the Ramadan relying mostly on an inhaler to break the fast.

Here are some health and nutrition tips from Vikki Knowles, Clinical Lead at Asthma UK to our asthmatic Muslim friends during the Ramadan season.

1) Discuss your plans for Ramadan with your doctor or nurse before making any decisions affecting your health and nutrition.

2) Speak to your Imam for advice on the use of your inhalers before sunrise and after sundown.

3) Carry your blue inhaler with you at all times.

4) Lastly, if you have adjusted your medicines and begin to feel worse, consult your doctor or asthma nurse the soonest time possible. Full article...
